Chapter Eight

Dylan awoke once in the middle of the night, with the overwhelming need to throw up. He clambered out of bed and made it into the bathroom in the dark. Transferring the contents of his stomach into the toilet bowl made him feel much better. He rinsed his mouth and crawled back to bed.

When he woke up next, it was morning. He felt more or less all right aside from a touch of headache. He was also hard as a three-day-old bread roll. It might have had something to do with the fact that he was wrapped around Simon. He lay on his side, arm and leg thrown across Simon’s lap, erection pressing to Simon’s thigh. As he blinked awake, awareness of Simon’s own hardness under his leg came to him.

Dylan did what came naturally to him in such situation: he rocked back slightly, pretending to still be asleep, and slid his hand toward Simon’s boxers.

Alas, Simon grabbed Dylan’s wrist and relocated the hand to neutral space. “So you’re awake.” He pushed Dylan’s leg aside and rolled out of bed. “How are you feeling?”

“Horny. Come back,” Dylan grumbled.

“That wasn’t the agreement.” Simon walked off to the bathroom.

With a groan, Dylan rolled onto his stomach and buried his face in the pillow. It smelled like Simon. He rolled back and rubbed his face. Right, he’d promised. God knew what Simon had against casual sex. Or maybe it was only casual sex with him Simon objected to. There was no use of puzzling over it. “What time is it?” he shouted.

Simon poked his head out the bathroom door, toothbrush in hand. “Nine.”

“Too damn early. In Vegas, you’re supposed to stay up all night and sleep till noon.”

“I wasn’t the one who had too much to drink. I’m surprised to see you so perky this morning.”

“I had a purge. Do you have aspirin?”

Simon ducked back in and reappeared with two pills and a glass of water. Dylan thanked him.

“So what’s the plan for today?” Simon asked.

Dylan was already in planning mode. “First we go down to the buffet and have breakfast, then out to the pool.”

“Swimming on a full stomach?”

“Who said anything about swimming? We’ll lounge, dip and float. MGM has the best pool. It’s like a river. You’ll see. And the weather’s not too hot yet. Put on your swimming trunks, bring cash, but leave your wallet and valuables in the safe. Chop-chop.” Dylan hopped out of the bed and to the closet to pick outfits for both of them.

After breakfast, Dylan led the march to the pool. He commandeered a couple of beach chairs and set them up in a shady spot under palm trees and along the lazy river. The temperature was still only in the eighties and hardly any other guests were around. Perfect. A bikini-clad cocktail waitress came by almost immediately and wasn’t offended when they only ordered iced teas.

Dylan dipped into the water before stretching out on his chair. “Mmm… This is the life.”

“Too bad you can’t do this every day.
